Lawler assured Backlund that he had his vote and would campaign aggressively to get him elected. Lawler said that he had a lot of pull in the southern states and could help swing the vote in Backlund's favor. Lawler ended the segment by thanking "President Backlund" for his time as "Hail to the Chief" played on the PA system to a smattering of "Boos!" from the crowd.

4. Adam Bomb defeated Bam Bam Bigelow via DQ at 9:15. Bigelow pulled Referee Tim White in front of himself as Adam Bomb came off the top rope with his Neutron Bomb (Diving Clothesline). He then applied the Crossface Chickenwing as WWF officials Tony Garea and Rene Goulet desperately tried to break the hold. Backlund suddenly bolted from the Montreal Forum and ran outside into the middle of the street dodging traffic.

7. "Double J" Jeff Jarrett (w/ The Roadie) defeated Razor Ramon at 15:27. The Roadie was instrumental in the victory by first bashing Razor in the head with Howard Finkel's microphone and then lending leverage to Jarrett's Figure Four Leglock for the submission. After the bout, Jarrett did the Fargo Strut in the ring with his flashing sunglasses until Ramon sent both him and the Roadie over the top rope with a double clothesline.

The Iceman turned around right into a mighty Chokeslam from Humongous for the pinfall.

(It should be noted that earlier in the day Butch Reed was a guest on local radio station WKYKZ 96.1 FM in Lake Charles and cut a scathing promo on UWF owner "Cowboy" Bill Watts. Reed asserted that he still had not been paid by Watts for his last two UWF appearances and had contacted a lawyer.)

UWF Results (Circa Late 80's) - Tulsa Convention Center, Tulsa, OK. Att: 8,675.
Announcers: Jim Ross & "Cowboy" Bill Watts
Ring Announcer: Reeser Bowden
Referees: Tommy Gilbert & Ronnie West

The program opens with Jim Ross interviewing his broadcast partner "Cowboy" Bill Watts regarding accusations made by Butch Reed on a local radio station in which Reed claimed that he had not been paid for his recent UWF appearances. Watts said that it's a legal matter now and that he cannot discuss the situation on the air. He did say that Butch Reed had been fired by the company for repeated "no-shows" at UWF events and that Reed had better "find himself a good lawyer". Watts instead wanted to focus on the upcoming 4th of July UWF Holiday Extravaganza "Superbrawl at the Superdome" in New Orleans. He said that several matches had already been signed and would be revealed through tonight's broadcast.

1. Jerry Oates over "Broadway" Joe Malcolm by submission with the Spinning Toe Hold at 2:39.

Signed for Superbrawl: Tag Team Cage Match - Bob & Brad Armstrong vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes & Roberts).

2. "Wild" Bill Ash defeated Art Crews via Count Out at 8:17. Ash delivered a DDT OOR on the concrete floor KOing Crews for the count out.

Signed for Superbrawl: UWF TV Title Match - Champion "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel defends the championship against challenger "Gentleman" Chris Adams.

3. Freebird Buddy Jack Roberts (w/ fellow Freebird Michael P.S. Hayes) pinned Porkchop Cash (w/ Sunshine) at 5:13. Hayes got into an altercation with Sunshine OOR. The valet slapped Hayes across the face much to the delight of the crowd, however the incident distracted Cash who was clobbered from behind by Roberts and finished off with a Piledriver for the winning pin.

There is a commotion outside the building. Butch Reed is being restrained by security from entering. He is shouting "Gimme my damn money, Old Man !!" and calls Bill Watts "a liar and a thief". He also adds, "I wasn't fired !! I quit your damn company !!" The Tulsa Police arrive and convince Reed to leave.

4. "Gorgeous Rookie" Gary Young (w/ Downtown Bruno) defeated "Gentleman" Chris Adams (w/ Sunshine) via Count Out at 10:57. In OOR action, Young found a fire extinguisher around ringside and bashed it across Adams back resulting in the count out.

Signed for Superbrawl: Texas Death Match - Austin Idol vs. Freebird Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy

5. The Coast Connection ("Hollywood" John Tatum & Jack Victory w/ Missy Hyatt) over the Jive Tones (Tiger Conway Jr. & Shaska Whatley) by Count Out at 14:55. Jack Victory dropped Conway throat-first onto the steel barricade railing around ringside while Missy Hyatt distracted Referee Ronnie West. Conway could not make it back inside the ring in time to beat West's ten count.

Signed for Superbrawl: UWF Tag Team Title Match. The champion Kiwi Sheepherders defend their belts against the challengers, the team of Ted Dibiase & "Dr. Death" Steve Williams.

6. "Unpredictable" Dick Slater (w/ Dark Journey) defeated Terry Taylor (w/ Sunshine) at 14:46. "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert came down to ringside mid-match and pushed Taylor off the top rope as he was setting up Slater for a high risk maneuver. Slater then landed his patented Flying Knee Drop to pin Taylor.

Signed for Superbrawl: UWF Title Match - Champion One Man Gang puts the belt on the line against the mighty challenger, Lord Humongous.

7. In the Main Event, Austin Idol and "Dirty" Dick Murdoch (w/ General Skandor Akbar) wrestled to a grueling 30 minute time limit draw. Idol had Murdoch caught in the Las Vegas Leglock and about to tap out just as the time limit expired.

"Cowboy" Bill Watts calls out both Terry Taylor and "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert. He says "enough is enough". There's been brawls in the parking lot, contant interference by both men and their valets in each other's matches, fines and suspensions and both men being jumped from behind in backstage interviews. Watts says he's "fed up with the BS". He says there's an old cliche "This town isn't big enough for the two of us." Watts says, "Well, the UWF isn't big enough for both Terry Taylor and "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, and while he hates to lose one of them, it's Taylor vs. Gilbert at Superbrawl in the Superdome - Loser Leaves Town ! (The fans go wild !)

Gilbert and Missy Hyatt have a fit in the ring. Watts pulls out a special contract and tells both men to sign it. Taylor shouts something at Gilbert that gets bleeped out, signs the document and throws it at Gilbert. Gilbert refuses to sign it. Watts is losing patience. He says "Eddie, you've been nothing but a pain in the butt from Day 1 of the UWF. You either sign the damn contract or you're suspended from wrestling until you do !" (Another huge pop from the crowd!) Gilbert reluctantly signs it.

Missy Hyatt threatens to have her daddy, oil tycoon J. Buckley Hyatt, get involved. Watts says Mr. Hyatt calls him at least once a week to complain about something regarding "his spoiled brat of a daughter". Missy curses at Watts (again bleeped out) and swings her Gucci handbag at him. Watts manages to get a hand up to deflect the purse from hitting his face. He clutches his wrist and grimaces in agony. "Gimme that damn purse, you little hussy !!" he mutters under his breath but Missy escapes his grasp and runs backstage. "What does she have in that thing, BRICKS ??" Watts mumbles. Ross shrugs. "We don't know, Bill. We've been trying to find out for months." He checks on Watt's wrist which is swelling up. "You better have that looked at" Ross says in a concerned voice. Watts supports his quivering hand. His face is coated in sweat and rage. "One more match for Superbrawl" Watts growls as the ringside physician checks on his injured wrist. "Missy Hyatt vs. Sunshine !" The fans go wild as the program goes off the air !

3. "The One Man Riot Squad" Dick "The Bulldog" Brower snapped Victor Rivera's undefeated streak with a controversial finish at 8:28. Brower slugged Rivera with a loaded punch upon re-entering the ring to gain the pinfall.

A brief intermission allowed Gene Hart to plug the upcoming Flyers/Rangers hockey game at the Spectrum, "Come out and support Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, Bernie Parent and all your favorite Flyers this Tuesday night as they take on their Patrick Division rivals the New York Rangers. Great seats are still available !"

4. "Chief" Jay Strongbow & "High Chief" Peter Maivia beat the tandem of Baron Scicluna & Stan "The Man" Stasiak at 11:04. Stasiak's Heart Punch backfired on the Baron in a big time way. Scicluna held Peter Maivia from behind to set up Stasiak's dreaded finisher but the Samoan managed to duck at the last second leaving the Baron to take the full brunt of the blow instead. Scicluna was easy pickins for the pin after that.

5. Mr. Fuji (w/ "Hollywood Fashion Plate" Classy Freddie Blassie) over Gorilla Monsoon via Count Out at 9:25. 2. Special Midget Attraction. The team of Cowboy Lang, Sky Low Low & the Haiti Kid defeated the trio of Lord Littlebrook, Billy the Kid and Little Tokyo at 5:52. Sky Low Low pinned Billy the Kid after Billy's partners accidentally flattened him with an errant Double Clothesline.

3. The good vibes from the midgets' match quickly faded when hated "Olympic Strongman" Ken Patera snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by rolling through Tony Garea's Flying Cross Body Press and pinning him with a handful of tights at 8:49.

Steiner then came off the top rope with an Elbow Drop to Gunn's back. Atkins finally turned around to find Rotundo making the cover on the dazed Gunn and counted the pin.

5. "The Computerized Man of the 90's" Terrence Taylor (w/ "Executive Director of the York Foundation" Alexandra York & "Head of Security" Mr. Hughes) over "Rap Master" P.N. News at 6:45. The Rap Master was staggered by a laptop smash to the back from Mr. Hughes while Taylor kept Referee Randy Anderson occupied in the ring. Taylor then finished off the woozy P.N. News with his trademark Flying Fivearm to score the pinfall.

6. Barry Windham defeated "Dangerous" Dan Spivey at 7:27. Spivey was in control until Windham was able to flip out of a Back Suplex attempt, bounce off the ropes for momentum and lay out Dangerous Dan with a Bulldog from behind for the three count.

7. WCW World Title Match. Champion Big Van Vader (w/ Harley Race) locked horns with a man called Sting (w/ Spikey Blonde Hair, Face Paint & a Boatload of Charisma). The challender had things going his way in the early going with his patented Stinger Splash in the corner however Vader took control after avoiding a second Splash. The Champ flattened Sting with a Powerbomb but opted to go for a Splash of his own from the 2nd rope instead of going for the cover. Vader found nothing but canvas and rolled out of the ring to recover. Sting chased after him and both men were counted out by Referee Randy Anderson at 11:52 as they battled around ringside. Big Van Vader retains the WCW Title.

1. Youngster Chris Benoit showed both a technical proficiency and a mean streak in his victory over Brian Carr. Benoit didn't exactly adhere to the rulebook during his relentless attack on Carr before finally ending things with a Swan Dive Head Butt from the top rope at 3:19.

2. A smattering of "Boos!" were heard during "Heavy Metal" Van Hammer's entrance. Apparently the fans of Columbus weren't buying the "rock star" image and heckled Hammer as he strode to the ring with his electric guitar. Despite the loss of points for his gimmick not going over well, Hammer was still able to defeat his opponent Mike Thor with the Hammer Rocks Slingshot Suplex at 3:46.

3. Paul E. Dangerously's Dangerous Alliance (Arn Anderson & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) beat the duo of Marcus Alexander Bagwell & 2 Cold Scorpio at 6:06. Scorpio flew off the top rope with a 450 Splash onto Anderson but Referee Bill Alphonso was too busy arguing with Dangerously to notice the pin attempt. Bobby Eaton took advantage of his manager's distraction to clobber Scorpio with the Alabama Jam (Leg Drop off the top rope) behind Alphonso's back. The ref finally turned around to find Anderson making the cover and counted the pin.

4. Scott Steiner, flying solo these days since brother Rick joined Kevin Sullivan's Varsity Club, defeated the York Foundation's bodyguard Mr. Hughes at 8:22. Hughes was staggered by an errant laptop smash from Terrence Taylor and pinned with the Frankensteiner (Head Scissors Take Down) moment's later.

5. WCW TV Title Match. Challenger "Stunning" Steve Austin (w/ valet Lady Blossom) beat the reigning TV Champ "Flying" Brian Pillman via Count Out at 11:27. Pillman was unable to make Referee Rhubarb Jones' ten count but still retains the TV Title.

6. Sid Vicious was disqualified in his match against "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes at 9:50 after he gave his opponent a blatant Low Blow and then slugged Referee Nick Patrick on top of that. Sid was not yet done, however. Vicious then slid a table into the ring and proceeded to Powerbomb Dustin through it. Several wrestlers and WCW officials ran in to prevent Sid from doing further damage to the already injured Rhodes.

2. "Rap Master" P.N. News pinned J.T. Southern with the Broken Record (Diving Splash from the top rope) at 7:11 after Southern was KO'd by an errant chair shot from his tag team partner Scotty Flamingo.

3. York Foundation Bodyguard Mr. Hughes (w/ Executive Director Alexandra York) and Lumberjack Big Josh were both DQ'd by Referee Randy Eller at 7:42. Both men pushed the ref down and chose to duke it out toe-to-toe in the middle of the squared circle prompting Eller to call for the bell.

4. United States Champion The Great Muta (w/ "Playboy" Gary Hart) beat "Z Man" Tom Zenk at 9:39 in a non-title match. This exciting bout that showcased both men's speed and agility was decided when Muta whipped the Z Man into the corner turnbuckle and caught him flush on the jaw with a Handspring Back Elbow Smash. Muta then followed up with a Moonsault from the top rope to score the pinfall.

5. Fan favorite Barry Windham drew immense support from his native Texans to help carry him to victory over Cactus Jack. Jack was attempting to scale the top rope for a high risk maneuver when he was intercepted by Windham and given a Superplex off the top for the three count at 12:08.

6. WCW World Title Match. Challenger "All American" Ron Simmons over defending champ Big Van Vader (w/ Harley Race) by disqualification at 10:34. Race slugged Referee Mike Atkins during a heated exchange between the two regarding an alleged slow count following a Powerbomb from the Champ. Vader retains the title despite the DQ loss.

6. "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett (w/ "Slap Nuts" T-Shirt and guitar) over "Iceman" Dean Malenko by Count Out at 12:44. 2. Billy Kidman (w/ Torrie Wilson) over Evan Karagias (w/ Madusa Micelli) at 5:28. The fans seemed more interested in the cat fight OOR between Torrie and Madusa than the cruiserweight battle inside the ring. Billy won with his Shooting Star Press off the top rope.

3. Hardcore Title Match. "The Belfast Bruiser" David "Fit" Finlay successfully defended his belt against the Wall. Finlay stuffed a garbage can over the Wall's head and then smashed it with a folding chair to set up the pinfall at 7:17.

4. "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero put away goofy David Flair (w/ Screaming Goth Girlfriend Daffney Unger) with his patented Frog Splash at 4:29.

5. Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) and the Bluebloods ("Lord" Steven Regal & "Squire" David Taylor) were both DQ'd by Referee Scott Dickinson at 8:16. With all four men battling in the ring and ignoring Dickinson's attempts to restore order, the ref finally had enough and called for the bell.

6. "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner (w/ Valet Midajah) over "The Laughing Man" Hugh Morrus by Count Out at 7:33. The action moved OOR where Hugh Morrus stalked after the pesty Midajah who had been heckling him throughout the match. Steiner grabbed a hold of Morrus and redirected the big man into the ring post with a loud "Clang". "The Laughing Man" was down and out for the ten count.

7. In the Main Event, the nWo's "Hollywood" Hogan defeated Diamond Dallas Page via Count Out at 16:00. Looking to make a favorable impression on the nWo and accept him as a member, Buff Bagwell came down to ringside and got into with DDP on the floor. Page laid him out with the Diamond Cutter, however the confrontation kept DDP out of the ring long enough to cost him the match. The nWo's Scott Hall and "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash were seen in the back comparing notes on Bagwell after the match.

5. Cruiserweight Title Match. Champion "Sugar" Shane Helms (w/ Fellow Three Count member Shannon Moore) over challenger Juventud Guerrera at 8:20. Juvi had the champ set up for a 450 Splash but Shannon Moore reached into the ring and pulled the prone Helms out of the way just in the nick of time. Guerrera found nothing but canvas and was finished off with the Nightmare on Helms Street (Spinning Inverted DDT). Helms retains the Cruiserweight Title.

6. UFC Fighter Tank Abbott (w/ Vince Russo) defeated Steve "Mongo" McMichael in controversial fashion at 5:19. With Referee Charles Robinson knocked down in the action, Steve McMichael set Abbott up for the Mongo Spike (Tombstone Piledriver) when Vince Russo ran into the ring and jumped on McMichael's back. The former Chicago Bears' lineman easily shook him off, but Abbott had gotten back to his feet and delivered a KO Punch to McMichael's jaw. Mongo was down and out for the pin as Robinson recovered to make the three count.

7. United States Tournament Semi-Final Match. The n.W.o.'s Scott Hall (w/ "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash) vs. Buff Bagwell w/ Special Guest Referee Eric "Easy E" Bischoff. A riot nearly broke out in Birmingham when Buff Bagwell literally laid down on the mat and allowed Scott Hall to pin him with one foot on his chest to advance to the Tournament Finals against Mike Awesome. Bagwell was then officially indoctrinated into the n.W.o. for throwing the match. Shouts of "Sham !!","Fraud !!" and "Refund !!" were heard as the ring was littered with debris. It was an ugly scene as Hall, Nash and Bischoff smiled smugly and egged the unruly crowd on. Security had to be brought in to escort the n.W.o. safely to the back.

2. Crowbar (w/ David Flair & Daffney) over Chavo Guerrero Jr. (w/ Pepe the Stick Horse) at 5:10. Guerrero did a few laps racing around the ring on Pepe during Dave Penzer's ring introductions. We are treated to a creepy skit in a dark and misty cemetary. Vampiro walks amongst the headstones and says that this is the only place that he's ever felt "at home". A breeze blows through the trees and Vampiro takes in the essence of the graveyard and whispers, "Come into my parlor said the spider to the fly". We're not quite sure who or what he's talking to and, quite frankly, we don't want to know.

5. Disco Inferno beat Ultimo Dragon via Count Out at 7:15 after delivering the Last Dance (Stone Cold Stunner) on the floor.

6. Diamond Dallas Page & Kanyon defeated Perfect Event ("Perfect" Shawn Stasiak & "The Event" Chuck Palumbo) at 9:17. Stasiak felt "the bang" from DDP's Diamond Cutter for the pinfall after both members of Perfect Event were whipped into each other from opposite corners of the ring.

1. Mike Richards over Go the Ninja (w/ "Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko) by DQ at 7:03. 3. In an Unusual Results Finish, Paul "Hard Rock" Diamond defeated "Canada's Greatest Athlete" Nick Kiniski (w/ Madusa Micelli) in controversial fashion at 8:39. With Referee Gary DeRusha KO'd in the action, Diamond cradled Kiniski from behind as "Benchwarmer" Bob Lurtsema raced into the ring and counted the pin. Diamond Dallas Page and Pat Tanaka, who had joined the announcer's table to do guest commentary for the bout, called Paul Diamond "the weak link" in Badd Company. Page and Tanaka insisted that Kiniski had been robbed and accused Lurtsema of being in cahoots with Diamond. (Lurtsema, the former NFL defensive lineman, calls himself "The People's Ref" and has a tendency to favor the babyfaces.)

4. The Cobra Corps. (Sergeant Slaughter & Greg Gagne in fatigues) defeated the Long Riders ("Wild" Bill & Scott "Hog" Irwin) at 12:55. Referee Bob Lurtsema was once again knee-deep in controversy. "The People's Ref" lost all control of this tag match. With all four men battling in the ring, Gagne suddenly rolled up Scott Irwin from behind and Lurtsema made the three count. Replays clearly showed that Gagne was not the legal man in the ring for his team at the time.

5. Billy Robinson pinned Big Bad Bobby Duncum (w/ Eddie "The Brain" Creatchman) with a Backslide at 11:07. After the bout, Creatchman sent Blackjack Lanza into the ring to help Duncum beatdown the popular Robinson. Greg Gagne and Sergeant Slaughter raced in to make the save. The bloody and battered Robinson had to be assisted backstage.

6. In the Main Event, it was "Cool" Curt Hennig (w/ Madusa Micelli) over Tommy "Jumbo" Tsuruta by Count Out at 13:14. In OOR action, Hennig choked out Tsuruta with Ring Announcer Larry Nelson's microphone cord while Madusa distracted Referee Gary DeRusha. Gasping for breath, Tsuruta could not climb back into the ring in time to make DeRusha's ten count.

Jannetty thought he had the match won with a Diving Cross Body Press off the top rope, but Referee Larry Lisowski was knocked down in the process. As Jannetty attempted to revive Lisowski, Sherri Martel sprayed perfume in his eyes. Somers then seized the moment and cradled the blinded Jannetty as a second referee, Marty Miller, raced into the ring to count the pin. After the bout, both referees argued toe-to-toe over the pinfall as Somers celebrated with Martel. The decision stood.

3. "The Mercenary from South Africa" Colonel Debeers defeated Anthony "Earthquake" Ferris at 4:36. The Colonel pinned Ferris with his dreaded South African Facebuster.

4. "Rocker" Shawn Michaels and "Playboy" Buddy Rose (w/ "Sensational" Sherri Martel) were both Counted Out in a wild brawl around ringside involving various chairs, Ring Announcer Mick Karch's microphone and the timekeeper's bell. Prior to the match, Rose corrected Mick's introduction by insisting "I do not weigh 271 lbs, I weigh 217 lbs !!" Rose then performed a series of jumping jacks and one-armed pushups to prove that he was physically fit as an impatient Shawn Michaels looked on.

5. Special Challenge Match. Verne Gagne stepped out of retirement and donned the tights once more to team with old partner Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon to defeat Nick Bockwinkel & Ray "The Crippler" Stevens at 14:49. Verne proved that he still had it by pinning "The Crippler" with a High Flying Cross Body.

6. Blackjack Lanza (w/ Eddie "The Brain" Creatchman) over Baron Von Raschke at 9:18. Creatchman was a menace and interferred throughout this bout. The Baron got into a heated exchange with Referee Marty Miller over Creatchman's constant cheating and was rolled up from behind by Lanza in the process for the pinfall.

7. AWA Championship Match. Champion Rick Martel turned back his determined challenger "Cool" Curt Hennig (w/ Madusa Micelli) to successfully defend his title in this marathon title match.
