A few notes:

This is my 14th set of cards, but, of course, my first set in quite a while. A few different causes for this -- I'm busy at work, I was busy doing other things in my spare time, and sadly, my interest in doing other seasons is waning.
The 2008 season I promised to do might not be feasable after all, but I will try to get the promised 1958 set out soon -- or at least, sooner than this set.
As usual, I did all the cards by hand, without aid of a special program. The catcher and outfield arms ratings were determined by number of assists.
This also was the first set of cards which I used OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Works. It was a little bit a of pain trying to type through the automatic edits, but it turned out fine. The cards will be made available in both PDF and Open Document files.

Some other information:
The 1953 card file contains those players with 50 or more at bats or 30 or more innings pitched.
This year, 11 batters received a BD rating of 2 -- Roy Campanella (BRO), Gil Hodges (BRO), Duke Snider (BRO), Gus Bell (CIN), Ted Kluszewski (CIN), Al Rosen (CLE), Eddie Mathews (MIL), Gus Zernial (PHA), Frank Thomas (PIT) and Stan Musial (STL). Ralph Kiner's combined NL card (CHI) also rates at 2.
Six also received 1s, including Kiner's Cubs only card. Others receiving 1s were Larry Doby (CLE), Bobby Thomson (NYG), Yogi Berra (NYY) and Del Ennis (PHI). Ray Boone's AL card (DET) also qualified for a 1.
Pitchers also had their PB rating downgraded, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find which ones got the downgrade. Sorry.

The combined cards for players who played with two or more teams have either symbols or a letter at the bottom right of their cards. They are:

BLANK: A regular card. Stats used for that player are solely for time spent with that team in 1953.
*: A combined Major League card. Stats used were combined from every team that player spent time with in 1953.
A: A combined American League card. Stats used were combined from every AL team that player spent time with in 1953.
N: A combined American League card. Stats used were combined from every NL team that player spent time with in 1953.

As I said, you may not get a 2008 set from me, but the 1958 set, which is less labor intensive, should be out fairly soon -- I hope, before August.

Sorry about all this, but until then, enjoy the 1953 season cards.
