A few notes:

This is my 19th set of cards.

After moaning about all the time it takes to arrange and edit the stats, figure the ratings, type the player names, fielding, hitting and pitching ratings, and figuring the card number distribution, then sending out the information to let any of you do a set of cards if you like, I still ended up making a set of cards anyway. That's been my M.O. the last few years.

Of course, the cards are coming out later than I'd like, but at least they're out now. (I'd love to have time over the winter to do these.) Now, at least, you can use them immediately. (Immediately after you print and cut them, that is.)

One note: I mistakenly missed putting Jim Thome's regular Cleveland (A) card with the team, but when I realized the error, I added the card to the end of the set. Thome has three cards in this set, one with Minnesota (A), one with Cleveland (A), and his combined AL card.

As always, I did all the cards by hand, without aid of a special program. This time, the catcher arm ratings were determined by success throwing out runners, while outfield arm ratings were determined by number of assists.

Some other information:
The 2011 card file contains those players with 50 or more at bats or 25 or more innings pitched.
In this set, 24 players received BD ratings of 2, indicating they hit 30 or more home runs in the 2011 season. They are: Justin Upton, ARI; Dan Uggla, ATL; J.J. Hardy, BAL; Mark Reynolds, BAL; Jacoby Ellsbury, BOS; Jay Bruce, CIN; Troy Tulowitzki, COL; Paul Konerko, CWS; Miguel Cabrera, DET; Mike Stanton, FLA; Matt Kemp, LAD; Ryan Braun, MIL; Prince Fielder, MIL; Curtis Granderson, NYY; Mark Teixeira, NYY; Ryan Howard, PHI; Lance Berkman, STL; Albert Pujols, STL; Evan Longoria, TBR; Adrian Beltre, TEX; Ian Kinsler, TEX; Mike Napoli, TEX; Jose Bautista, TOR; and Mike Morse, WAS.
In addition, one pitcher -- John Lackey, BOS -- received a PB rating upgrade from 2-5 to 2-6 for winning 12 games in 2011. No pitchers received PB rating downgrades.

The combined cards for players who played with two or more teams have either symbols or a letter at the bottom right of their cards. They are:

BLANK: A regular card. Stats used for that player are solely for time spent with that team in 2011.
*: A combined Major League card. Stats used were combined from every team that player spent time with in 2011.
A: A combined American League card. Stats used were combined from every AL team that player spent time with in 2011.
N: A combined American League card. Stats used were combined from every NL team that player spent time with in 2011.

I'll say it again, because I always do, but I don't expect to make a set for 2012. Saying that, however, don't be surprised if I still grab the stats and do all the work to make the a 2012 set. I just can't tell you my plans this early.

However, until you hear one way or the other, enjoy the 2011 set.
