HOUSE RULES FOR STATIS-PRO BASEBALL
From BobbyDNO@aol.com
I believe Avalon Hill's Statis-Pro Baseball is a very good table-top baseball simulation board game. It incorporates nearly every nuance of Major League Baseball into an easily understood and quick-playing format. Unlike other games, nearly all the action is captured on the player cards, rather than on accompanying charts and tables. Also, I believe simply shuffling and flipping over a deck of cards is a less laborious repetitive task than constantly having to roll two or three dice for each at-bat. The resultant games are fairly realistic, and individual players seem to closely resemble their real-life performances.
I own the player cards for the following seasons:
1975, 1978 through 1982, and 1984 through 1992
I also have a ten SuperTeam set, and other special individual insert teams.
All told, there are over 400 Statis-Pro Baseball teams at my disposal.
However, the game is not perfect. House Rules were develop to let the players on the field decide the outcome of a game, rather than some strategy chart or wild card play.
HOUSE RULES
A.	Basic Play Rule Changes
1.) Switch hitters do not get 87 and 88 hits.
2.) Left versus right stuff does not apply when pitchers bat. 3.) The home teams starting pitcher is upgraded one PB better if the attendance is 81,000 or over. Similarly, he is downgraded one PB worse if the attendance is 18,000 or under.
B.	Base Running Rule Changes
1.) All G1 outs should be treated as Batter Out - Runners Advance, unless pitcher is CD-4, in which case any forced lead runner is out, batter safe; or any non-forced runner holds, and batter is out. 2.) All G4 and G6 are doubleplays if Infield Back. 3.) All G5 are doubleplays if Infield Back and Batter not OBR A, or batter is left-handed and has OBR B.
4.) All G3 are doubleplays if Infield Back and Batter not OBR A or B. 5.) All G2 are as indicated on Out Chart, but no doubleplays if Batter OBR A or B or if Catcher not CD-4.
C.	Hit & Run Rule Changes
1.) No batter may Hit & Run more than twice in a game 2.) No batter may Hit & Run after the 6th inning. 3.) No team may Hit & Run more than once per inning.
D.	Bunt for a Hit Rule Changes
1.) No batter may Bunt for a Hit more than once per game.
2.) No team can Bunt for a Hit more than once per inning. 3.) A batter can only bunt when the bases are empty, a base runner on first base, or base runners on first and second bases. 4.) Any out obtained from a failed bunt attempt with men on base results in the lead base runner being forced.
E.	Stolen Base Rule Changes
1.) If a base runner attempting to steal a base cannot get a jump, he may not try to steal again for the remainder of his time spent on the basepaths that time.
2.) Each team is allowed to try to steal home only once per game 3.) Whenever trying to steal home, use the following chart:
          Speed Safe Out No Jump
E cannot attempt to steal home
          D 11-12 13-28 31-88
          C 11-14 15-28 31-88
          B 11-16 17-28 31-88
          A 11-18 21-28 31-88
4.) On double steals, the trailing runners Speed rating is upgraded as follows:
          Speed New Rating
          B or C A
          D or E C

F.	General Strategy Charts Rule Changes
1.) Each team is allowed only five (5) strategy moves (Bunt for a Hit, Hit & Run, Squeeze) per game.
2.) All errors occurring from a result on the Bunting, Sacrifice, Squeeze and/or Stealing charts on the game board should be disregarded if the fielder in question is a CD-4. The play results with the lead runner getting called out, whenever appropriate. A fielder with a CD-3 rating will also have a chance to make the play, by drawing a new random number, with 11-48 out and 51-88 error. Fielders with CD-2 or CD-1 will still make the error. 3.) There should be no three base errors from board charts. The Bunting #71 error should be changed with the batter only going to second base. The Stealing #63 error should be changed with the runner only going to third base.
4.) There should be no pop-out double plays on the Sacrifice chart, the batter simply pops out, unless all the fielders in question are CD-4.
