A few notes:

Surprise! It is to me, anyway.
This is my 16th set of cards, and to be quite honest, I never thought I'd ever do this set. After creating the 1958 set, I assumed I'd never do another, especially not this one, with 30 teams or more. But, every now and them, I found myself fiddling with statistics, sorting and categorizing batters and pitchers, figuring out formulas and ratings, and soon, I found myself typing up these cards.
So now, I have a 2008 season set finished, and soon to come, a set for the 2009 season. Funny how you change your mind when you have nothing else to do.
As always, I did all the cards by hand, without aid of a special program. The catcher and outfield arms ratings were determined by number of assists.

Some other information:
The 2008 card file contains those players with 50 or more at bats or 25 or more innings pitched.

On the 2008 cards, a grand total of 25 players received BD ratings of 2, all of whom hit 30 or more homers in the 2008 season. They are Ryan Howard (PHI), Carlos Delgado (NYM), Ryan Ludwick (STL), Miguel Cabrera (DET), Albert Pujols (STL), Ryan Braun (MIL), Adrian Gonzalez (SD), Carlos Quentin (CWS), Alex Rodriguez (NYY), Prince Fielder (MIL), Jim Thome (CWS), Jermaine Dye (CWS), Hanley Ramirez (FLA), Jack Cust (OAK), Pat Burrell (PHI), David Wright (NYM), Chase Utley (PHI), Grady Sizemore (CLE), Mike Jacobs (FLA), Josh Hamilton (TEX), Adam Dunn (CIN), Aubrey Huff (BAL), Dan Uggla (FLA) and Carlos Pena (TB). In addition, Adam Dunn's combined National League card (ARI), and the combined major league cards for Jason Bay (BOS), Manny Ramirez (LAD) and Mark Teixiera (LAA) also received BD ratings of 2.

Also, two pitchers had their PB ratings downgraded from 2-8 to 2-7 on the regular card set for losing 10 or more games: Roy Halladay (TOR) and Jake Peavy (SD). In addition, the combined major league card for C.C. Sabathia (MIL) was downgraded as well, while the combined major league card for Livan Hernandez (COL) was upgraded from a 2-5 to a 2-6 for winning 12 or more games.

And, as usual, the combined cards for players who played with two or more teams have either symbols or a letter at the bottom right of their cards. They are:

BLANK: A regular card. Stats used for that player are solely for time spent with that team in 2008.
*: A combined Major League card. Stats used were combined from every team that player spent time with in 2008.
A: A combined American League card. Stats used were combined from every AL team that player spent time with in 2008.
N: A combined American League card. Stats used were combined from every NL team that player spent time with in 2008.

Again, I hope to have a 2009 set out soon, though being back to work, it may take me a while. But I hope to have it done before May 2010.

Until then, enjoy the 2008 set.
