  Paydirt/Bowl Bound Rules Needed
If someone could help out my buddy Steve Gorman, I would certainly appreciate it, as would he. Steve needs the supplemental rules for Paydirt/Bowl Bound that explain the penalty symbols. If you can help, please get in touch with me!

  TVG Horse Racing Added
I have added Jeff Drought's new horse racing game to the download section. Here is an overview directly from Jeff:

This is two games in one. Whether you play with Apba horse cards you own or the ratings included with this game, their use is a little different than with Saddle Racing. Only the Ratings (Turf, Good, Slow, Muddy & Sloppy) are utilized. Initially, the game is sets up the same. But instead of 11-66
grids, the plus/minus ratings which were converted for setting up odds are used instead. These normalized ratings are then converted to what I call a default movement rating. Other modifications to the horse rating include the usual track conditions, jockey ratings and a new variative called Pre-Race Training.

Once the scoresheet is filled out, a race is carried out with the use of three charts. Gate Sequence, Mid-Furlong Sequence and the Stretch Sequence. It should be pretty straightforward, but to clarify, the Gate Sequence would be the first Furlong while the Stretch Sequence most often times will be the last. Everything in between is run from the Mid-Furlong Chart. I say most often times because there may be races when the Stretch Sequence is used twice.

The second game included is what I call the TVG version. If you watch the TVG Racing channel, you can run races either before or post race, using the odds. A chart converts the odds to the horse rating. No other modifications are used (not track, jockey or pre-race training). Everything is built into the odds. Jockey ratings are used during the race however. If you don't get the race channel, you can still use this version of the
game by printing out results found on the internet. Or if you have a daily racing form, you could use the morning odds.

Differences with this game and Apba nclude the fact that decimals are not used. Diagonal movement is allowed though within restrictions. Jockey ratings (0-4) are at times added to Default Movement (DM) ratings while at other times, used to determine challenges. Challenges if won, allow a trailing horse to pass "thru" rather than move around a horse ahead. The
space in front of the lead horse would have to be open. Inward moves as with straight moves cost 1 movement point while outward moves cost 2.

Included is a track which can be printed in one sheet or in nine sheets which you would then cut and mount. Finally, horse icons are included and if printed per instructions, will fit exactly the spaces on the track. Furlong distances are identical to Apba's (8 spaces per furlong).

That should be it. Enjoy either version and send/post any questions.

Thank you,
jeff Drought

  SOM Baseball Downloads Gone
The SOM Baseball download section has been removed. Apparently some of the files there were copyrighted by a website. Since, I wasn't told which files were in violation, I removed the entire directory.

Everything in me wants to start a rant here, but I'll refrain. My suggestion though is to download everything you might from this site right now, as it may not be around next time I have to pay the server bill.

  Updated Pennant Race!
Marco has been kind enough to post his updated version of Pennant Race! The new revision has all of the 2002 teams rated. I always thought this was a really good game design for a quick play game. Now that the teams are more current it is even better!

You can grab this file in the download section.

  NASCAR Grandstand Fixed
The NASCAR Grandstand downloads are now working. If you still have any trouble, please let me know.

For those of you that don't know, Dave and Mike have created "season packs" for the game that will eventually cover EVERY season in NASCAR history! Right now, you can download the 1970's as well as an as-played version of this season! Check out the download area.

  APBA Saddle Racing News

Gary Stishan passed along the following:

Just wanted to let all the Horse racing fans know that I've created another Yearbook for the APBA Saddle Racing game. It is called the Early 1990's Greats. Like all my other yearbooks the horse cards are compatible with the APBA Saddle Racing board game.

<DIV>The Yearbook's focus is on the 1990 thru 1994 racing seasons. As most of you know APBA stopped creating seasons in 1987. This Yearbook along with a companion yearbook (Late 1990's due out later this year) will help bridge the gap APBA left us.</DIV><DIV>
The Yearbook includes 112 horse cards, 29 jockeys rated for as many as 5 different seasons and 13 Feature Races ready to run. Each year between 1990 and 1994 has at least 20 horses carded ready to go. This Yearbook instead of having a Year-In-Review section has a list of all the horses in the set with some key races they raced in like the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup with even the jockey who rode them.</DIV><DIV>
Some horses carded are:</DIV><DIV>Unbridled (1990 - 3 yr old),</DIV><DIV>Hansel (1991 - 3 yr old),</DIV><DIV>A.P.Indy (1992 - 3 yr old),</DIV><DIV>Praire Bayou (1993 - 3 yr old) and</DIV><DIV>Holy Bull (1994 - 3 yr old).</DIV><DIV>
The price is the same as for my other Yearbooks $9.95 plus shipping. If interested in this Yearbook or any other Yearbook I've created, e-mail me at <A href=""></A> for a Product Info Sheet and Order form.</DIV>
