  The Best of the AWA
Downey Games is proud to announce the release of our latest set for TV Pro Wrestling. We'd also like to thank Rich Dillon for his help with this set.

Our second Old-Time Set for TV Pro Wrestling features the stars of the Minneapolis based territory, the AWA. This set features over 170 new wrestlers, Tage Teams, Managers and referees! This is by far, our largest TV Pro Wrestling set.

The American Wrestling Association (AWA) ran from 1960 to 1991. It was owned and founded by Verne Gagne and Wally Karbo. The territory was originally part of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), becoming an independent territory in the late 1950s. NWA World champion Pat O' Connor was recognized as the first AWA World champion, but when O'Connor failed to defend the new AWA title against number one contender Verne Gagne, Gagne was awarded the belt.

The AWA would become inactive in the fall of 1990.

The influence of Verne Gagne and the AWA as a whole in professional wrestling is immeasurable. Countless wrestlers and personalities were either trained by or received their first big break under Gagne, an influence that is felt to this day.

The Printed version comes on individual, die-cut cards. The link to the printed version is:

2006 Highlights

The regular season week one continued on Sunday, September 10, concluded with the Indianapolis Colts at the New York Giants in what was the first NFL game with two brothers starting at quarterback: Peyton Manning of the Colts and his brother Eli of the Giants.

Then on Monday Night, September 11, there was a doubleheader: the Minnesota Vikings defeating the Washington Redskins, 19-16, which was followed by the San Diego Chargers shutting out the Oakland Raiders, 27-0.

There were only seven bye weeks in 2006 (weeks 3-9). Six teams had open dates in weeks 6 and 7, while four teams had open dates the remaining bye weeks. Previously, there were eight bye weeks (weeks 3-10), with four teams having an open date each week.

Three games were played on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to the traditional annual Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys home games during that day, with the Lions losing to the Miami Dolphins 27-10, and the Cowboys handily trouncing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 38-10, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos, 19-10, exactly 35 years since their last meeting on Thanksgiving Day in the AFL.

Record Breaking Performances

LaDainian Tomlinson broke the all-time NFL record for most rushing touchdowns in a season, on December 10, when he scored his 29th touchdown against the Denver Broncos, en route to his final total of 31. The previous record belonged to Shaun Alexander, who scored 28 touchdowns for the Seattle Seahawks in 2005. LT then broke the record for most touchdowns in a season the following week, when he ran for two scores against Kansas City, breaking the mark set by Alexander (which he set one season earlier) and Priest Holmes (originally set in 2003). The first touchdown that night broke Paul Hornung's record for most points scored in a season set in a 12-game schedule in 1960. He outscored the entire Oakland Raiders team - 186 points for Tomlinson to the Raiders' 168, and also won the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award, receiving 44 out of a possible 50 votes.

Brett Favre set the career mark for most pass completions during the December 17 game against the Detroit Lions as the Green Bay Packers quarterback broke Dan Marino's record when Carlyle Holiday caught a 21-yard pass just prior to halftime. Favre has 4,974 completions, breaking Marino's high water mark of 4,967. The Golden Brett also became the second quarterback to have thrown for 400 touchdowns in a career, with number 400 coming against the Lions on September 24 when he passed five yards to Greg Jennings, and the result was a 75-yard touchdown, and is currently seven passes for touchdowns away from tying Marino's career record of 420 as of December 17.

On December 21, Favre became the first NFL player to throw 5,000 completions, on his final pass of the night. It came on 3rd-and-17 and moved the Packers into field-goal range. Two plays later, Dave Rayner's field goal provided the winning points in Green Bay's 9-7 victory.

Peyton Manning reached 4,000 yards passing for the seventh time in his career on December 24, breaking a tie with Dan Marino for the NFL record. Manning reached the mark on an 8-yard pass to his favorite receiver Marvin Harrison in the second quarter.

Michael Vick became the first NFL quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards in a season on December 24. Vick, who needed only 10 yards to reach the mark, gained 17 on his first carry on the Falcons' opening possession.

Morten Andersen kicked his 2435th point on a PAT against Dallas on the 16th of December thereby setting the record for most career points. On the 24th of December he kicked his 539th career field goal, passing Gary Anderson for the career record.

  2007 Wrestling Year Book Released
Downey Games is proud to announce the release of the 2007 Year Book for Ultra Quick Wresting.

The 2007 year book brings 156 new wrestlers into your Ultra Quick Universe. All of the major promotions are represented. All wrestlers are rated for the entire 2006 season.

The ratings are "normalized", so you can mix and match wrestlers from different promotions, and still have an "accurate" universe. I've accomplished this by weighting wins in the various promotions, as well as weighting wins by weight class.

The match-ups are endless!

The product comes in both E-Book and Printed format. The printed version can be purchased in "sheet" format, or individual, die-cut cards.

  2006 ECHL Year Book Released
Downey Games is proud to announce the release of the 2006 ECHL Year Book for BigBep Hockey.

This is our largest Year Book Offering yet!

The 2005-06 ECHL Season was the 18th season of the East Coast Hockey League. The season ran from late October, 2005 to early June, 2006. The league welcomed three new franchises in Stockton, CA (which had relocated from Atlantic City, NJ), Phoenix, AZ, and West Valley City, UT, but had to give voluntary suspensions status to the Texas Wildcatters and the Mississippi Sea Wolves due to damage caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The ECHL All-Star Game was held at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California and was hosted by the Fresno Falcons. The National Conference All-Stars defeated the American Conference All-Stars 7:6, with Fresno's Luke Curtin named Most Valuable Player.

While most leagues adopted the entire NHL rule change package for 2005-06 (based on the 2004-05 AHL rule changes), the ECHL kept the shootout at five players, and kept the automatic icing rule which has been used in the league.

The season yearbooks come in two printed formats, a printed team sheet offering, and individual die-cut cards. Both offerings are in vivid, professionally printed, full-color.

We also offer an E-Book option which is an instant download.

  1972 NFL Season Available
Downey Games is proud to announce the release of the 1972 season for Chris Davis' Inside Blitz Football.

Re-live the excitement of the 1972 Pro season with the Inside Blitz 1972 Pro Year Book. All 26 teams are accurately rated to replicate their real-life performances.

The 1972 NFL season was the 53rd regular season of the National Football League. The league decided to change the formula of computing the winning percentage of each team in the standings: Tie games, previously not counted, were made equal to a half-game won and a half-game loss.

The Miami Dolphins completed the first (and currently only) undefeated regular season and postseason record in NFL history when they beat the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII.

Can you lead Miami to the Super Bowl and an undefeated season? Or can you lead the Redskins, Packers, Steelers or Cowboys to an upset Super Bowl Victory?

The only way to find out is by ordering the 1972 Professional Year Book!

The Yearbook comes in printed form as well as E-Book format.

You can order either version through the Downey Games web site.

  1968 NHL Season Available
Downey Games is proud to announce the release of the 1967-68 NHL season for BigBep Hockey.

Re-live the fun and excitement of the 1967-68 National Hockey League season. The yearbook includes every NHL team and all skaters.

Play out the 1968 season with the best hockey game on the planet!

The 1967-68 NHL season was the 51st season of the National Hockey League. Twelve teams each played 74 games. This season saw the NHL expand from the "Original Six" teams by adding six new franchises. The St. Louis Blues, California Seals, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings were all put into the Western Division. On November 6, 1967,1 the California Seals were renamed Oakland Seals. This year also saw the addition of two new awards. With expansion came format change and with format change came a need for a new trophy for the winner of the newly formed West Division. The new trophy, called the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl, was for the winner of the West while the older trophy, the Prince of Wales, was for the winner of the East. The other new award was the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, which was named in honour of Bill Masterton who died on 15 January, 1968 after sustaining an injury during a game (the first time a NHL player had ever died directly as a result of an on-ice injury).

The St. Louis Blues made a series of the Stanley Cup finals although they lost in four straight games. Glenn Hall was sensational, especially in game three when the Blues were outshot 46 to 15. Wrote Red Burnett, the dean of hockey writers then: "A number of Hall's saves were seemingly impossible. Experts walked out of the Forum convinced no other goaltender had performed so brilliantly in a losing cause." In the overtime of game three, Hall made a spectacular save on Dick Duff and then, standing on his head, made another save. "It was a heartbreaker to see" said Burnett "After the saves on Duff, Bobby Rousseau came and batted home the second rebound." Hall's heroics won him the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs. But Montreal, like a champion, won the Stanley Cup in game four as J.C. Tremblay fired home the winning goal. When the game ended, the fans came on the ice to celebrate, and balloons, hats and programs were thrown from the stands. Jean Beliveau, in a cast and crutches from his broken ankle, with Ralph Backstrom accepted the Cup from NHL president Clarence Campbell and the players did a victory lap with the Cup.

Less than 30 minutes after the Canadiens won the Cup, Canadiens coach Toe Blake announced his retirement. He gave reason that it had been a hard season, but the real reason was that his wife was dying of cancer and he wanted to spent his time with her. The celebration turned to a mournful event with players paying tribute to Blake, many in tears.

Can you lead the Blues to a dramatic upset? Or can you guide the Canadiens to another Stanley Cup?

The printed season yearbooks come in two formats, a printed team sheet offering, or individual die-cut cards. Both offerings are in vivid, professionally printed, full-color.

We also offer an e-book version which is available for instant download.

You can purchase either version at the Downey Games web site.
