I've read your write ups in the past and enjoy seeing your replay results. I like the fact that you are in the 1930's. I am curious about the game itself because I use Final Score for the 30's and 40's. I havent seen a listing for Ultra Quick. It doesn't really matter.

I am replaying the 1938 season with Final Score. Earlier i replayed 1947. Richmond, Texas Tech & California are 4-0 while Several teams are at 3-0 including Holly Cross, Pittsburgh, Detroit Mercy, Army. Michigan St. Washburn (KS), VMI, SMU & Loyola Marymount.

It is interesting to see how College Football has evolved since the 30's. Some teams who may only play Club Fooball today had high profiled teams back then. Take for example Washburn who is is probably unheard of today. Others like Holy Cross, Richmond, VMI or Detroit Mercy are playing in Division 1AA or less. These were tough main line teams back then.

Thanks for your reports,

Frank

Frank;

My bad. it is final score. When I wrote this I was in the middle of sinusitis and a upper respiratory infection so I was all drugged up.I really enjoy the game and like playing the older teams. The only thing is I wish it had some of the smaller schools that were around.

For College Football fanatics there is nothing like teams, teams and more teams. I the case of 1931 Final Score, 111 teams are released as major NCAA Top Division. Compare that to 1961 Uttra Quick where 112 teams were released. A difference of only 1. Those are all the teams listed in the power ratings. The teams may change but the numbers are the same.

The toughest thing about 1931 is that the teams not ranked are probably Club teams that may have had 1 or 2 legit games and often it was against the same school. I will use 1945 as a base. It is 14 years beyond 1931 and the War had just ended so it semmed to stabilize the game at the time.

Pittsburgh St, a small Mid-Western School, played 2 games in 1945 & 4 games in 46.

McKendrie played 3 games in 46 and increased by a few after that but took 3 years to win a game. During that time they only scored 12 points.

California (PA) played 3 games in 46, 3 in 47 and only 1 in 48 & 49

Indiana (PA0 played 1 game in 46 and 1 in 47.

These are only examples. I only looked up a few. I think the games these teams played were fill-in and not scheduled before the season started. These schools had club teams that competed against each other. Trying to put together schedules for smaller schools would be a nightmare especially in a year like 1931 or any of the 30's and 40's for that matter. College Club teams played mainly against local Semi-Pro teams.

Frank;

There is a site I found called College Football Data Warehouse. I found that many of the teams in the early 30's were in fact regular college teams and not club teams and in fact full college teams. I even did a spreadsheet for 1929-1931 that had the teams listed the conference they were in, won lost record, home wins, points scored and points allowed. From my research all teams were listed in the same division until 1937 when there were divided into large and small colleges. I had started 1932 but the site went down a few days ago. if you want I could send you the spreadsheet. Hopefully the site will be back up again. I would love to rate those teams for myself if i could ever figure out how. For example Louisville where I live played 6 games in 1931, 8 in 1932 and 1933.

If you have information on teams you want why not just rate them yourself. Pic a team with a similar record and use that letter grade.

I would like to look at your spreadsheet;

I will try to rate teams myself like you said. I can definitely send the data. I have in numbers on a mac, but I convert it to excel if that would work better for you

I'm following your replay.

How do you like the Final Score game?

What is the difference between FS and UQP?

Do you feel the scores are realistic?

I'm interested in both games.

Thanks for your time.
