Jose Bautista vs. Mark Trumbo turned out to be a slugfest. Bautista gets too far ahead in the first six, and while Trumbo makes it close in the top of the 7th, Bautista puts him away in his 7th.

Mark Trumbo 102 110 302-10
Jose Bautista 211 033 40x-14

A "pitchers' battle in the other semi-final.

Carlos Beltran 010 010 000-2
Dan Uggla 110 030 20x-7

Jose Bautista vs. Dan Uggla for the finals!

The Modern Home Run Derby Finals
Jose Bautista vs. Dan Uggla

Bautista enters the match considered a heavy favorite, the power surge he has experienced with the Blue Jays carrying over into the Derby. Uggla has been a bit of a dark-horse, even though he has had a solid power record.

1st Inning: Uggla jumps to a quick lead with 2 blasts in the top of the first. Bautista fails to answer. Uggla, 2-0

3rd Inning: Bautista finally gets on the board in the bottom of 3rd, after a quiet 2nd inning for both. Uggla, 2-1

4th & 5th Innings: Both men crack a homer, Uggla, 3-2, then 4-3.

6th Inning: Uggla clears another shot, Bautista goes out 1-2-3. Score: Uggla, 5-3.

7th Inning: Uggla launches two more in the top of the inning, but Bautista is able to match him to stay in the match. Uggla, 7-5

8th Inning: Bautista narrows the gap with one in the 8th. Uggla, 7-6.

9th Inning: Dan Uggla makes two outs before hitting a homer, to widen his lead to 8-6. Bautista quickly answers to cut it to 8-7, but then makes three consecutive outs.

Winner: Dan Uggla, over Jose Bautista, by 8-7 score.
