Two days ago I purchased Final Score Hockey. I purchased all of the NHL seasons.(and saved $50). I will try to right a wrong using the '70-'71 season. Boston needs to win the cup! Later today I will post the standings.

First off, I'm planning on getting "Final Score Hockey" later today (at a dollar per season, it really isn't bad at all). But I couldn't help but notice you list only points instead of win-loss-tie.

Also, based on what I've seen so far, that '70-'71 Bruins team of yours is PHENOMINAL!! (Sorry on using capitals for that word, but if any NHL team can only drop 4 points from a total possible of 76 anytime, that is a performance of the ages!). Here is the breakdown based on what I've seen:

Oct. - Nov. 1: 15 of 16 points (7-0-1 start)

Nov. 2 - Dec. 2: 27 of 30 points (either 13-1-1 or 12-0-3)

Dec. 3 - Jan. 5: 30 of 30 points (15-0-0)

Based on this, Boston either has a 35-1-2 or, more unbelievably, 34-0-4 mark.

I also noticed the Blackhawks only dropped two of a possible 26 points (12-1-0 or 11-0-2) during your last string of games. Again, another great run of play.

I can't wait to see what happens in the '71 section of play.

wyidetyme,

Thanks for your post! You are correct Boston is PHENOMINAL!! After 68 games they are undefeated...34-0-4. Which concerns me. I hope other people purchase the game and decide to replay the team and\or season.

Here are my expanded standings. Each team has played between 44-48 games.

EAST

1. Boston-41-0-4-86 pts.
2. New York-35-4-7-77 pts.
3. Montreal-24-10-11-59 pts.
4. Toronto-20-15-13-53 pts.
5. Vancouver-12-24-10-34 pts.
6. Buffalo-11-27-7-29 pts.
7. Detroit-9-34-2-20 pts.

WEST

1. Chicago-28-11-7-63 pts.
2. St.Louis-19-19-6-44 pts.
3. Pittsburgh-17-23-8-42 pts.
4. Minnesota-16-21-9-41 pts.
5. Philadelphia-11-25-10-32 pts.
6. California-13-28-5-31 pts.
7. Los Angeles-11-27-7-29 pts.

Well looking at the standing a large problem and two smaller problems jump out at me. Boston undefeated after 45 games and not even close to losing. New York also playing over their heads (not as bad as Boston). Lastly, on the other end of the spectrum...Pittsburgh playing above their talent level.

While laying in bed thinking about the situation, I came up with what I am calling "The Boston Mod". I am making a slight modification to the final RT. After play testing using the rest of the season. I will report the results.

I replayed some games using the "The Boston Mod". I still was not comfortable with the results so I tweaked the mod a little more. I will finish my replay using the '71 season using the mod. Each team has about 30 games left.
I replayed the "71 Bruins using my mod and their real schedule from that season. Here are their final results:

55-14-9-119 pts. GF-332 GA-192

I will post results as games are played.

Toronto-6-5-1-13 pts.
Buffalo-4-7-5-13 pts.
Vancouver-2-5-5-9 pts.
Detriot-5-4-4-14 pts.

Chicago-11-1-3-25 pts.

Minnesota-4-7-4-12 pts.
Los Angeles-3-7-3-9 pts.

Hey! Boston finally lost a game. Of all the games I have rolled the "bones" for, I believe Boston in this replay is the luckiest team ever!

Downey Games Forum followers I need some input. After I complete my '70-'71 NHL replay I want to do a original 6 season. Could I get some input on which season to do?

Thanks, RAB

How about the last year before expansion 1965-1966. Always a good one.

Another year, 1939-40. Boston had the best record but it was the Rangers and Toronto in the Finals.

One more, 1956-57. Detroit with the best record but the Finals saw Montreal versus Boston.
