Post subject: think there's a FAR problem with cautions  PostPosted: Sep 23, 2013 - 03:57 PM

According to the example of Daytona in the rulebook, an average race would have 68 caution laps with an averaged race speed of 106 mph. Last year I believe Daytona 500 had about 25 caution laps and about 150 mph.

A race I ran at Bristol with the short track drivers had an average of 81 laps of caution and the race was run at a -191 mph.

Am I doing something wrong or are the numbers wrong?

I really want to purchase a couple of more seasons but I want to get these issues resolved one way or another first. Hope someone can answer soon.

You are not doing anything wrong. You have actually highlighted a discrepency. CSF have been calculated to be multiplied by the number of cautions rather than the number of laps.
Try again multiplying the CSF by the number of cautions you had and things should fall into place.

I think I have created this problem when I re-wrote the rules.

You should multiply the CLF by the number of cautions to get the number of caution laps.

You should multiply the number of cautions by the CSF to get the deduction from the Pole Speed to determine the race speed.

That makes a lot more sense. I think the rules say to multiply it by the number of caution laps to get the race speed. Thank you to both of you. I will order tomorrow.

Yeah, like I said, I think I created that error when I re-wrote the rules. It should definitely be number of cautions and not laps. Otherwise, you may never get a race speed over 0!
