Post subject: HBW Koufax no-hitter, almost foiled by X Factor  PostPosted: Feb 04, 2018 - 11:12 PM

Just started a 1965 Sandy Koufax replay, and had my first-ever no-hitter, in an April 22 game vs. the Mets. Crazy ending, with two outs in the 9th Joe Christopher got an X result. X deck says torrential rain storm came thru, a roll of a die to determine how long a delay and the effect on the pitchers. Fortunately, only a half-hour delay, and Koufax lost two points on his PIT rating...

Christopher back in the box, swing and a miss, strikeout, Koufax gets his no-hitter. He had one no-hitter in the actual '65 season, vs. the Cubs, and also one-hit the Mets.

Wow, what an ending!!! With 2 out in the 9th, I might have invoked the magic weather gods and ignored that rain if the die roll came out differently.

I have that 1965 set and I got it specifically because I wanted to play a -5 rated front-line starter. That set has two - Koufax and McDowell. The only other one I have come across among the 20+ sets of HBW seasons I have is 2015 Zach Greinke. But I've had no no-hitters with them, though!
