I think I understand all the game now, I just had a quick question regarding timing to make sure I got everything right as I want to make sure I can play the way the game was intended to be played.

1. In OT, from what I understand, dice rolls equals the following for minutes:

1- 1:00
2- 2:00
3- 3:00
4- 4:00
5- Final seconds
6- 3:00

Now, do I assume final seconds are from 4:56 to 4:59?

Also, I assume you cannot score in first OT minute (0:00)

Finally, if seconds are represented by dice rolls, I understand you cannot score with seconds that ends in 6,7,8,9 ?

I want to say how much I am amazed at how realistic all this is. I read all the imstruction book and it covered practically everything! Kudos to the Downey Games team for this game!

Thanks

Hi,

I was just wondering if someone who has played the game could help me with those questions and tell me how you play in those situations?

I dont mind if there are things that cannot happen, it is in no mean something negative as this game is better than I coule ever imagined, i just want to make sure I play it the way it was intended to be played.

Hey Matt,

One thing I've always done when playing UQH was to use four, six sided dice.

Sometimes it makes the game play even quick....but now you can do this for timing in overtime....

Red, white, black and yellow die.

Red die equal minutes....

1=1
2=2
3=3
4=4
5=0
6=0

Yes two chance that the goal in scored with less than one minute....but sometimes goals are scored really fast in overtime anyways...

White die equals tenths or 10, 20, 30......

1=10
2=20
3=30
4=40
5=50
6=0 or less than 9 seconds

Black die equal...

If a 1, 2 or 3 add to the value of the yellow die. If a 4, 5 or 6 treat as zero and still add in the yellow die..

Example

Red = 2
White = 3
Black = 1
Yellow = 6

Time of the goal 2:37

Minutes covered 1-4
Tenth seconds 0 - 5
Seconds 1 - 9

The only thing it won't produce is even times......

2:00, 3:00, 4: 00 and so on.....but I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Enjoy the game...

Rick

Thanks a lot Rick, that is everything I need to start playing!

I also liked your input on your post about goalie ratings / shootouts. It show that you look at the game in depth and its nice to have those discussions, as like I said in my original post, I just want to make the game I play the most realistic possible, and I believe that all those discussions / questions add to the realism.

I replied to your email, but in case you didn't get it.

What you have listed above is correct.

The method that Rick mentions above is also a good one.

The timing of the goal scoring isn't an exact science, it's there to add more flavor. So, anything that appeals to you is certainly the best method, as fun is the utmost important factor.

Thanks so much for your reply, I appreciate it very much. I must have missed the e-mail, sorry about that. I understand perfectly that the timing is there to add more flavor, so yes, it doesnt have to be exact at 100%. My concern was that if what I had listed was incorrect, I would take away from the realism of the game.
