Post subject: Any Baseball Manager players
Anyone actively playing Baseball Manager currently? I just wanted to see if anyone was doing anything with the game. I've had the itch and gotten it out recently.

I have the game with the '59 ratings and some famous teams.I like the simplicity and quick play features of the game.I have tried rating other teams but it takes me a lot of time to get through the formulas in the book. I thought Jeff was trying to bring it back but haven't heard anything recently.

Jeff has had some ill health that has pushed projects back and, in truth, I can be a bit of an impatient person when it comes to a product that generates excitement in me. I have an excel file for doing teams where you need to enter the data but the program does the math.

I will try to post the 53 Dodgers I just did recently.

Just added the 1919 White Sox and 1914 Braves. More to follow; I have a bunch done on notebook paper, in process of transitioning them over to Excel. Have some done in Excel sheet, minus the additional data, ie, GP, Bat, Throw, L or R, etc. (in other words, they just have the player names and ratings).

I just posted a team but not the guts of the program I used. It was given to me and I never asked if it was OK to share it. I'll need to check.

Rick, I look forward to seeing all Dodger teams that you do. I will try, soon, posting a season.

Is there any more information on this game? like a dedicated forum or a link to a website? How is base stealing handled in the game?

Thanks .

Not that I know of. You can bet there will be one here if the new version gets released by Jeff.

I can't offer 2oo bucks or anything like that. But anytime I ask anyone for a copy or a copy of the copy of Baseball Manager-- I get the sound of silence.

Any chance for a copy pf a copy of a copy of Baseball Manager?

It really isn't that unusual to not find copies of a game that ceased production a long time ago. But it seems that someone still owns the rights to it so I would guess that means many people, and rightfully so, aren't anxious to sell or otherwise distribute copies.

Carlos , gosh I wish I had visited the site a little sooner because about 3 weeks ago I had sold my mint copy of the game on eBay. I had it since 1982 and it was in my sports games collection, but only played it a few times and was not that thrilled about it as you seem to be. I have played or owned just about every Baseball Game that came out from 1975-1995, it was an expensive hobby to collect them as I look back now as even my wife does not know how much I had spent on all my sports games. I have only kept Statis Pro Baseball, Sherco Baseball and Calcu Ball from the last 20 years now left in my collection. Keep looking on ebay if nobody else steps up . I wished I had been back to the site sooner for you Carlos.

I'd be happy to burn you a copy 'on the house'!

Thank you so much.

That's a heck of a move---NY to CA. Is the baseball team still the River Cats?

I have been trying to see a copy of Baseball Manager for a few years. I will try to be a good member of the community and pass on the good cheer is some to others.

Thanks,

Carlos, fan of the underdog Florida Marlins.

Just read your post today (May 27th). I'm in the process of moving my wife and daughter from upstate New York to Sacramento, CA

The game is safely enroute in a big shipping box with other games. I'd be happy to burn you a copy 'on the house', but it may be a month or so.

cheers Very Happy

I know what kind of haul it is, I went from Elmira, NY to Riverside, CA and it took me 12 days but I took my time-stayed with a friend for four days and stayed in St. Robert, MO for two days to repair a bent rim on my tire. Most of my travels I averaged 400 miles.....Saw a lot of sites but kicked myself in the butt for not staying one night in Amarillo and have dinner at that place that serves 72 oz steaks...well I would not eat one, but they offered the whole dinner free for those that ate the 72 ouncer in one hour! Best steakhouse in Amarillo I was told.....so I passed up Amarillo and stayed in Tucumcari, NM and viewed Route 66 and the places that are left!

Have a safe trip!

Thanks for the good wishes Edward R. Meek. I wouldn't attempt that 72 ouncer, I'd lose, but I'd have some great left overs.

Here's one that came out of my closet. Really not a bad game.

70 Reds 012 000 010 - 4 12 2
72 Dodgers 000 002 000 - 2 4 0
Nolan, Gullett (6), Carroll (Cool and Bench; John, Wilhelm (Cool, Brewer (9) and Cannizzaro.

Reds scored in the second on three singles and a bases-loaded walk to Nolan. Reds got two more in the next inning when Bench singled and May hit a two-run homer. Reds capped the scoring in the eighth when pinch-hitter Stewart singled and Rose brought him home with a double.

Dodgers got both runs in the sixth and three walks and two singles that chased Nolan. John pitched very much like John, giving up a lot of hits but not a lot of runs.

Thanks for the game post rickert! Always like seeing game results and info about 'Baseball Manager'.

A simple little baseball game with serious potential. Would like to see Jeff put this one on his 'bucket list'.

Very good game. Probably my greatest letdown ever at Downey Games was when the deal to republish Baseball Manager fell through after it was announced it would happen.

I agree Rickert. I was disappointed when Titan never seemed to do his part in getting the revised version ready for release, along with Jeff. Maybe they can still release a revised version together (John and Jeff or Tony or Chris) and get us players a great game out there! Here's hoping. Jerry

I do not think that Titan is the one to blame. I think Dad getting sick was more of the problem.

As soon as the Easter Sale is complete, we will have an announcement that will make everyone happy. John and I have been in touch, and we have a plan.

Just added 5 more teams for Baseball Manager to the "others" section of the baseball downloads. 1948 Indians, 1924 Senators, 1919 Reds, 1985 Royals, and 1983 White Sox. More to follow...

Hope all BM players get a chance to use them!
Take care,

I have no idea, but it could be because there is a new version of the game coming and I don't believe that the old teams will work. But that's totally speculative on my part. About all of it.

We have to manually approve them. And they are all titled baseball manager. I will try to get them approved and titled with the year and team. Otherwise, they will overwrite one another.

I wouldn't worry too much. My understanding is that Tony and Chris have been extremely busy so their time is likely at least somewhat limited. They also recently released the latest seasons for basketball and hockey games that normally release this time of year.

I have no official word about a release, or lack thereof, of Baseball Manager. I'm just suggesting that you hang in there. This could be a pretty major release. I'm sure they want to get everything right and absolutely ready.

I agree with you except for 2 things. First, a little post to these boards saying that things are still going forward would be reassuring. Secondly, this is precisely what happened the first time it was mentioned that BM would be returning and then years went by without any other word about it.

I hope you're right but feel I have reasons to be concerned.

I've been playing some Baseball Manager lately, rating some teams, and continuing to convert the teams that I had rated over the years into the nice roster sheet Excel template.

I played a game with some 2013 teams I rated. Here it is...

Teams...........................................R H E LOB
2013 Pirates....0 2 0 1 3 0 0 0 2 - 8 14 2 7
2013 Reds.......1 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 1 - 4 6 0 3

WP-Liriano
LP-Cueto

Pit-Liriano, Wilson 8, Grilli 9, and Martin
Cin-Cueto, Cingrani 5, Parra 8, Hoover 8, Chapman 9, and Mesoraco

HR- Pit: Alvarez 2, Cin: Bruce

Alvarez broke open a 3-3 game in the 5th with a two out, three run homer off Cueto. He followed that with a 2-run homer, with two out in the 9th off Chapman for insurance.

McCutchen went 0-for-5 with 2 K's, and 2 GIDP.

Reds took advantage of 2 Pirate errors (Liriano, and Jones) in the 4th on Mesoraco's two out hit, driving in 2 to tie it 3-3.

Walker 3-for 4, 2 runs; Byrd 3-for-5, 2 runs. Martin, and Jones also had 2 hits.

Choo had 2 hits, with a double, and a run scored for Cincinnati.

I will be adding these teams to the downloads section. It will be one file, with 2 tabs. Hope you enjoy the writeup, and the teams!
